Leadley DECA Grant Awarded
The Portage Education Foundation provided a $464 grant from the Glen Leadley DECA Endowed Fund to the Northern High School DECA program in October 2011.
Northern’s DECA has a long winning history, with the chapter competing in every international competition since its formation 15 years ago. The Huskie chapter is also one of largest in West Michigan.
“This grant is beneficial to our chapter by providing funds needed to cover the transportation costs of traveling to and from the competitions,” said Northern Business/Marketing teacher and DECA Advisor Jeanine Patterson. “With the transportation paid for, each member participates at a lower cost. Having the support of this endowed fund, as well as other community support in place, lightens our financial burden and allows students to focus on their competitive skills.”
The Glen Leadley Fund was established in 2002 in memory of the Northern alum with a passion for DECA.
